Event Details

Guitarist and Branford resident Neal Fitzpatrick will present a regular, monthly program of music for classical guitar. Each session will feature a different era, genre, or style from the vast repertoire for classical guitar. Programs will include music from the major eras of Western Music encompassing the Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic eras, as well as works from the 20th Century and Modern era-the body of music for classical guitar is indeed an abundance of riches! Neal will sometimes be joined by his colleagues in the Connecticut chamber music scene and his students for solo and ensemble performances.

The focus of this month's program will be Chamber Music for Guitar. The guitar has a significant place in the world of chamber music. While the guitar is usually thought of as a solo instrument it also a partner with a wide variety of other instruments , often with the flute. Since the inception of the modern guitar in the 18th century there has been a large body of music written not only for solo guitar for guitar centered chamber music as well. For tonight’s program Neal will be joined by his long time flute and guitar partner, flutist Elaine Thoma. Elaine and Neal will play selections from the flute and guitar repertoire.
