Event Details
Professional storyteller Tom Lee has hundreds of traditional folktales in his repertoire - tales from around the world and across time. Some of his stories date from hundreds of years ago, and some are thousands of years old. “Humans love stories, and always have,” he says. “Traditional stories tap into the story-craving part of our minds at a very deep level.”
Of all the stories he tells, however, the tales of the Brothers Grimm hold a special place for him.
The stories collected by the Brothers Grimm are what prompted Lee to begin telling stories years ago. “These stories were so strange, so dreamlike – and sometimes so shocking, I felt that the only way I could begin to understand them was by actively telling them to other people.”
Tom will bring a selection of lesser-known tales from the Grimms’ collection to the James Blackstone Memorial Library on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 from 6:00 to 7:00. Tales of enchantment, romance, and transformation. Perfect entertainment for a dark winter’s evening, these tales are intended for an audience of adult listeners.
