The Inside Story on Publishing a Picture Book

Amy J. Barry, author of the children’s book, A Cat All His Own (June 2024) and Haley Grunloh, the book’s illustrator, will share tips and advice on getting your picture book into print. They will discuss the various elements that go producing a book, including how the story and illustrations come together, the importance of creative collaboration, and the pros and cons of self-publishing versus traditional publishing. There will be time to answer questions after the presentation.

In addition to A Cat All His Own, Amy J. Barry of Branford is the author of A Child's Grief Journey— a picture book for bereaved children, endorsed by Education World. She currently has a children’s book in the works based on “the best of” her two grandmothers. An award-winning print journalist, columnist, reviewer, editor, and published poet, Amy is also a certified expressive arts educator, facilitating classes and workshops that help adults tap back into their intuitive right-brain creativity.
