Program Description

Event Details

Get ready for Solar-Powered Poems! This is a joyful, imagination-fueled poetry adventure for kids ages 8–12. In this 90-minute workshop, we’ll explore the big, bright, brilliant sun through words and wonder. We'll talk about sunshine, solar energy, colors, shadows, heat, dreams, and maybe even solar-powered robots! Then we’ll each write our own mini-poems—like sunbeams on the page.

This interactive workshop, taught by award-winning poet and life-long Branford resident Amy Levitin Graver, includes fun games, silly prompts, short readings, and a chance to write your own solar-inspired haiku and mini-poems. There will be sun-colored paper, optional drawing breaks, and an optional mini “open mic” at the end ..... Let yourself shine!

Warning: Side effects may include joy, lightbulb ideas, and poetic daydreams. No writing experience needed – just imagination! Paper and colored pencils will be provided.

Recommended for ages 8-12.

Registration is required for this event, as space is limited.
