The Stony Creek Museum is dedicated to sharing the history, culture, and community of Stony Creek and the Thimble Islands. Join us for their annual virtual meeting with special guest Jo Ann Cavallo author of  The Sicilian Puppet Theater of Agrippino Manteo (1884-1947) - The Paladins of France in America. It provides the most comprehensive history to date of the Manteo Family's Sicilian Marionette Theater across three generations.

About Jo Ann Cavallo

Jo Ann Cavallo (Ph.D., Yale, 1987) is a Professor at Italian, Columbia University. Her book The World Beyond Europe in the Romance Epics of Boiardo and Ariosto received an MLA Publication Award and was translated into Italian. She also published The Romance Epics of Boiardo, Ariosto, and Tasso: From Public Duty to Private Pleasure, Boiardo’s Orlando Innamorato: An Ethics of Desire, and numerous articles on epic in popular traditions. She is the editor of Teaching World Epics and Teaching the Italian Renaissance Romance Epic, co-editor of Fortune and Romance: Boiardo in America and Speaking Truth to Power from Medieval to Modern Italy.
