About the Artist

Robert Jawitz is a retired architect living in Northford (North Branford) CT. He says of these sketches:

“When I attended my College of Architecture, I was introduced to making sketches. The professor for the coursework on the Profession was Maury Wells. As part of that he had an additional objective: he required the students to make sketches of buildings and artifacts primarily to teach the students to see more carefully, to study proportion, design intent, historical circumstance and to learn how to communicate these. We called them “Wells’ Sketches”. That objective still held true as I did this sentimental journey at Yale. I never forgot the techniques I used then. I still call them “Wells Sketches.”
