About the Artist:
It's not spin art ... it's Revolution Art.
Andrew has always created art hoping to elicit some value of shock from his viewers. It wasn't until 1996 that he took up photography, photographing professionally in 2000 with numerous accolades and exhibits. Between 2010 and 2012, Andrew noticed a decline in photography work and his mind began overflowing with creative ideas. In August 2012, he switched from photography to abstract art, with music being his prime source of inspiration.
His studio, a 9'x10' corner of his apartment basement in East Hampton, CT. His easel, a 42" round revolving metal table top connected centrally by an iron pipe and flange atop a heavy wooden crate. The process, revolving the easel with canvas secured, using the centrifugal force to move the liquid paint across the canvas creating a mystical fulmination. Andrew sets up the parameters, and controls the results to a certain point, with much depending on chance and a host of variables: temperature, viscosity, speed, chemical reaction and physical exertion; there's a performance in creating my art.
Each painting, a type of ocular aura. I first began including orbs, catchlights, planets, and shafts of light for the sole purpose of concealing any minor blemish in the painting, though these simple disguises soon became a staple in many subsequent works.
In the summer of 2017, with the revolving easel, Andrew saw a shift from his explosive works to a more calmer color field style, calling these new works "Spectral Echoes" and creating a marriage and vibration between each ring of color.
In 2018 Andrew combined his signature style with his Spectral Echo series calling these new works "Cosmic Portals”.
Andrew's art was featured in the October 2018 issue of Ink Publications.
