GIVE US THE STRENGTH TO LOVE

In July of 1962, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was arrested for holding a prayer vigil outside the Albany, Ga. City Hall. While imprisoned, Dr. King began working on “Strength to Love,” the 1963 book that would become the first collection of sermons by an African American preacher widely available to a white audience.

Join us for an invigorating discussion of Dr. King’s powerful work, which touches on issues as relevant today as they were in the early 1960s: nonviolent action, racism, Christianity, and more. The discussion will be led by the Rev. Leroy Perry of Saint Stephens AME Zion Church, who will detail Dr. King’s emotional, spiritual and physical journey, and how, despite the hardships he endured, he found the “Strength to Love.”
