This week we will be joined by Victoria Molta, author of Lost Before I Could See.

Victoria Molta has written a memoir spanning over forty years of living with a diagnosed serious mental illness. As a writer, her previous work had been published in anthologies and literary and mental health journals as well as chapbooks. She worked as a peer specialist for many years helping others with mental health issues. She was also employed as a program coordinator at National Alliance of Mental Health in Connecticut running a speakers’ bureau consisting of people living with mental illness. She organized hundreds of presentations at hospitals, colleges and other venues designed to educate others and instill hope. In 2004, she received an award for being a leader in the recovery movement.

For four years, she hosted a monthly statewide cable access television program called ‘You and Your Mental Wellness’. It was posted as a reference on the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services website.

Her story is unique because it chronicles not only dealing with a mental illness from an insider’s perspective, with struggles but also a long life filled with meaning and colorful experiences.
